How do I choose the right mounting type?
When ordering furniture legs, you'll need to pick one of two mounting types. Here's how to decide:
- M8 bolt mounting is the right choice if your furniture already has a metal threaded insert built into the surface, or if you simply want the quickest, simplest installation — just screw in the bolt. This type is common for sofas and beds.
- Mounting plate is the right choice if your furniture surface has no threaded insert or pre-drilled point — the plate creates its own attachment point on any flat wooden surface. This type works best for cabinets, bedside tables, and DIY furniture.
Not sure which one your furniture needs? Check the underside of the piece. If you see a round metal insert with threading, choose M8 bolt mounting. If the surface is completely flat with no existing attachment point, choose the mounting plate.
Follow the steps below for the mounting type included with your legs. All hardware needed is supplied together with the legs, based on the mounting type you selected at checkout.
Not sure which mounting type you ordered? Check the hardware included in your package: an M8 bolt with a plastic washer means the bolt mounting, while a metal mounting plate with small screws means the plate mounting.
M8 Bolt Mounting

What's included
- Furniture leg with pre-installed threaded insert (M8)
- M8 threaded bolt
- Plastic washer
Installation steps
- Screw the M8 bolt into the threaded insert at the top of the leg.
- Slide the plastic washer onto the bolt, against the top of the leg.
- Position the leg under the furniture and screw the bolt into the pre-drilled hole (or threaded insert) in the furniture base until the leg sits firmly against the surface.
Tip: The plastic washer protects the furniture surface from scratches and helps the leg sit flush against the base.
Mounting Plate

What's included
- Furniture leg with pre-installed threaded insert (M8)
- Metal mounting plate
- 4 wood screws
- M8 threaded bolt
Installation steps
- Attach the mounting plate to the bottom of the furniture using the 4 wood screws. The surface must be flat for the plate to sit properly.
- Screw the M8 bolt into the center hole of the mounting plate until it presses firmly against the furniture surface.
- Screw the leg onto the protruding end of the M8 bolt and tighten until secure.
Tip: Make sure the mounting surface is flat and free of debris before attaching the plate, so the leg sits level.
